Gluten Free Desserts at Café Rouge
I was very pleasantly surprised to see French bistro Café Rouge offering an absolutely huge selection of gluten free desserts, and coffee to go with them, as well as a selection of tasty soft drinks if you’re not a fan of coffee (this seems alien to me but apparently is a thing).
If you follow my page, you know that I absolutely love desserts, cakes, ice creams, tarts, give them all to me! So I decided to try three of the them!
All three were absolutely delicious, usually we coeliacs get one brownie but here there was multiple, hence my over excitement and over order. But don’t worry, I ate all of them.
I’ll start with my favourite which was the Raspberry Parfait (image at the top), which had a white chocolate sauce and salted caramel pistachios (which I could eat a plate of). Not only is this one of the tastiest desserts I have had in A LONG time, but also look at it, how photogenic is that?!
Something that isn’t usually gluten free is a tart, but guess what, Café Rouge offers a Tarte Au Citron, with crème fraîche. This makes a perfect afternoon treat, it’s light, delicious and the lemon makes it a great palette cleanser.
Lastly I tried the Eton Mess, which featured fresh raspberries & strawberries with vanilla ice cream, strawberry sorbet, crushed meringue AND strawberry coulis. Eton Mess can sometimes be a bit sickly but Café Rouge have really hit the needle on the head with this one, the combination of the fruit and sorbet is excellent, plus you can’t go wrong with a meringue!
All of the items on the menu are clearly marked and the staff seemed knowledgeable and understanding. I would definitely recommend grabbing a tasty dessert from here ANY TIME you are close because the menu has a few more tasty gluten free treats to offer! I already have a date in my diary to try their chocolate mousse!
I ate at the Hays Galleria restaurant, which is right by the river, and highly recommend sitting outside there. It was lovely!
